Daniel is a Telecommunications Engineer specializing in Intellectual Property, with extensive experience as a Patent Technical Expert in advanced telecommunications and information technologies. His expertise encompasses optical and wireless communication networks, core network architectures, network function virtualization (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN), cloud computing, distributed systems, blockchain, electronics, and digital communication systems.
His technical background further includes digital signal processing and multimedia transmission chains, including technologies related to audio and video coding, compression, transmission, and decoding, as implemented in modern communication systems, streaming platforms, and infrastructures compliant with international multimedia and telecommunications standards.
Throughout his career, Daniel has worked at leading Intellectual Property firms in Brazil, advising national and international clients in the telecommunications, information technology, network infrastructure, semiconductor, embedded systems, wireless communication, and electronic devices sectors. Prior to his work in Intellectual Property, he was engaged in telecommunications engineering activities, with hands-on experience in the design and implementation of high-capacity optical networks, including projects involving DWDM technologies, routing protocols, and backbone infrastructure.
Daniel has extensive experience supporting research and development teams in the identification, structuring, and protection of high-value technological assets. His work includes conducting prior art searches and technical analyses, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, preparing patentability opinions, defining national and international protection strategies, and preparing responses to office actions issued by patent offices, including submissions at examination and appeal stages before the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BRPTO).
In addition to assisting clients in protecting their technological innovations, Daniel conducts strategic technical analyses aimed at enabling the safe commercial exploitation of technologies, including Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) analyses, infringement and non-infringement assessments, preparation of third-party submissions, technical opinions in support of patent disputes, and strategic support for the development and management of Industrial Property portfolios.
