Marcelo is a Chemical Engineer specialized in Intellectual Property Law, with over 12 years of experience working as a Patent and Industrial Design Specialist.

Throughout his career, Marcelo has worked in renowned Intellectual Property offices in Brazil, advising national and international clients from various sectors, especially agricultural input industries, pharmaceutical laboratories, oil and gas industries, steel industries, chemical products industries, veterinary products, among others. Marcelo also gained experience in the industry as a Patent Engineer in Brazilian pharmaceutical industries with multinational operations.

Throughout his career, Marcelo has had the opportunity to advise R&D teams with patent training and searches in patent databases, preparation of Patent Landscape opinions, Technological Monitoring, Patentability Analysis, Design Around, drafting and filing patent applications, preparation of responses to requirements issued during administrative processing, as well as the filing of appeals.

In addition to working to defend clients’ technological developments, Marcelo also works to implement strategic measures for commercial exploitation and defend clients’ interests, including Freedom to Operate (FTO) Analysis services, Infringement or Non-Infringement Analysis, submission of third-party observations, oppositions, Competition Monitoring, as well as preparation of technical opinions for lawsuits regarding patents, and in the Management of Industrial Property Asset Portfolios.
