From August 20 to 22, 2023, the 43rd International Congress of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI) will be held in hybrid format. The theme of this year’s edition is “IP as a Promoter of Social Equality”.

Partner Isabel Milman will be the moderator of Panel 7, entitled “Innovation in the Agro-Industry”, which will take place on August 22, at 9:30 am (BRT). The panel will feature lectures by Icaro da Silva, Director of Patents at Ericsson, and Dr. Vishal A. Sodha, Global Director of Intellectual Property at UPL.

This panel will address a topic of great importance, especially in Brazil, where agribusiness is one of the pillars of its economic strength. New technologies are transforming the way production occurs in the field, introducing new processes, products and business models. In this context, the panel aims to discuss, among other topics, the use of 5G technology as a facilitating tool for agribusiness and the challenging issue of essential patents licensing as a factor of innovation.
