In the article, Clarisse De La Cerda presents the relationship between intellectual property and artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting different decisions in the world for patent applications that indicated the AI DABUS (“Device for the Autonomous Bootstrapping of Unified Sentience”) as an inventor. Mrs. De La Cerda also addresses recent discussions about authorship of ChatGPT outputs and highlights that the ethical challenges of AIs must be evaluated beyond the role of inventor or author.
