News | Brazil’s accession to the Hague Agreement is approved by the Brazilian Senate
25/10/2022
On October 6, 2022, the Brazilian Senate approved Brazil’s accession to the Hague Agreement concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs (Draft Decree No. 274/22). As the subject had already been approved by the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies, it will now be enacted.
The Hague Agreement simplifies the procedures and reduces the costs relating to the registration of Industrial Designs abroad. The accession will benefit both Brazilian citizens interested in protecting their Industrial Designs abroad and international owners of Industrial Designs interested in the Brazilian market.
The accession to the Hague Agreement enables Brazilians to seek protection of their Industrial Designs, through an international application, in up to 94 countries, including the United States, Japan, and members of the European Union.
