The Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office published in its Official Gazette No. 2634 dated June 29th, 2021, the Ministerial Ordinance N° 29/2021 modifying Article 13 §1 of current Ordinance No. 247/2020, which relates to fast-track programs in Brazil.

According to Ordinance No. 29/2021, the deadline for requesting fast-track examination of patent applications related to the diagnosis, prophylaxis and treatment of COVID-19 has been extended to December 31, 2021.

The newly Ministerial Ordinance No. 29/2021 entered in force on July 1, 2021.
