To commemorate the World Day of Book and Copyright (April 23) and the International Year of Languages (2008), UNESCO in Brazil launched a campaign to promote reading and language diversity. With the celebration of this day around the world, UNESCO seeks to promote reading, the publishing industry and the protection of intellectual property through copyright.
This year, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the year 2008 as the “International Year of Languages” and invites us to reflect also on the linguistic dimension of books.
