News | Superior Court of Justice won’t hear Tom Cavalcante’s parody claim against de Sílvio Santos
07/02/2008
The legal battle between TV network SBT and comedian Tom Cavalcante on the issue of parodies on Sílvio Santos and his programs had a new decision, this time on the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). Legally restrained of analyzing proofs of the lawsuit, Justice João Otávio de Noronha held that the appeal presented by the defense of Tom Cavalcanti may not be considered by the Court.
Therefore, the position of the State Appeals Court of São Paulo remains, which has impeded TV network Record from showing the parodies under penalty of fine.
