News | FIFA demonstrates intention to cooperate with the BPTO

Representing the Fédération Internationale de Football Association – FIFA, attorney Pedro Bhering visited the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) on December 21, 2008, to demonstrate FIFA’s intention to cooperate with the BPTO in the promotion of intellectual property and the protection of trademarks.
The meeting was also attended by the BPTO’s President, Jorge Ávila, the Vice-President, Ademir Tardelli, and by the Coordinator-General of Trademarks, Maria Lúcia Mascotte. The attendees discussed the possibility of educational actions against counterfeiting, in which FIFA could serve as an example of trademark protection.
