News | 5G – The new generation of mobile internet in Brazil
15/06/2022
According to experts, 5G provides:
- • Faster (up to 100 times) and more stable connections than those offered by 4G;
- • Low latency, i.e. reduced response time between devices;
- • More devices simultaneously connected to the same network – up to 1 million per kilometer.
The potential of 5G paves the way for benefits to society, such as:
- • Easy file transfer;
- • Practicality in the application of IoT (Internet of Things) solutions;
- • Faster playback of high-quality video
- • Higher quality video calls;
- • In some cases, replacement of the Wi-Fi network.
Last year, the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) held the 5G auction to offer four frequency bands divided into national and regional lots, considering the investment needed to expand the technology in Brazil. The auction notice provided compensatory measures to the companies that won the lots, including the increase in the coverage of the 4G network in municipalities.
The expectation is that, over time, the expansion of the new network will enable advances and opportunities in different fields in the country, such as medicine and education. Also, the technology implementation should lead to more investments in the telecommunications sector still in 2022.
