On May 01, 2020, the pilot project for Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) between the National Institute of Industrial Property (BPTO) and the Intellectual Property Institute of Singapore (IPOS) came into force. Subject to a limit of 400 patent applications per year, in all technological fields, the program streamlines analysis procedures for both offices in order to accelerate the processing of patent applications in Brazil and Singapore. In this sense, the project allows the results of examinations conducted by the BPTO to be used in the analysis of patent applications in Singapore and, in the same way, the results of examinations conducted by the IPOS to be used in the analysis of applications in Brazil, thus speeding and simplifying the process for obtaining the patent.

The PPH program between the BPTO and IPOS will remain in force until April 30, 2025.
