News | BPTO adopts recommended standard codes for patent documents
13/03/2009
In line with intellectual property offices in Europe, Japan and the United States, the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) is adopting standard codes for patent documents. These “kind codes” follow a recommendation of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The use of these codes will allow the identification of patents applications filed and not granted as well as those already granted.
From the edition no. 1993 of the BPTO’s Official Gazette, all applications for inventions, utility models and certificates of addition, published and granted, will be identified by these codes. The recommended standard codes can be found at: http://www.wipo.int/export/sites/www/standards/en/pdf/03-16-01.pdf.
