The decision to allow the transgenic corn by Syngenta was issued on Sept. 20, 2007 by the National Technical Commission of Biosafety (CTNBio). It was the third time CTNBio approved the plantation and commercialization of transgenic corn.

To enter into force, however, said decision must be ratified by the National Committee of Biotechnology, of which Secretary Dilma Rousseff is the President, formed by 17 members of several spheres of the federal government.
